Be Sure to Get Your Chandelier Lamps lighting coverage right!
Lighting coverage simply refers to having the light given off by your chandelier lamps give you the best diffusion and the results you really want.
No one wants to create really big dark shadows across their rooms and you don’t have to if you know these easy little tips.
1. The general rule of thumb is that your light sources should be about ten feet apart. More often than not this will suffice in giving you pretty even light coverage throughout the room.
2. Place light sources throughout the room at about ten feet or so intervals and look for dead spots (shadow areas). Then move the light sources around until all of the major shadow areas are now gone. Also be sure that you can get power conveniently to all those areas without having the cord going across a major traffic area that people will trip over.
3. If you Do opt for the full blown overhead chandelier route then watch for the placement of tall solid items like bookcases as they will cast huge shadows in their wake. Your solution there is to place an additional light source, even more chandelier lamps about 6 to 10 feet away from the dark side (shadow it cast’s). You will want the additional light source to cast it’s light onto the shadow area thereby nullifying that dead spot and supplying the entire room with proper illumination.
If you apply these techniques you should have no need of an interior designer lighting specialist as you will already know many of the major principles that they would apply and can save a tremendous amount on their fees, which of course means you can buy nicer Chandelier Lamps.
