Chandelier Lamps – Style Is Everything, Or Is It?
When choosing the RIGHT Chandelier Lamps One of the biggest decisions you will have to make is what type of lamp and where will it be placed. Ok, sure this may sound really stupid but trust me as decor writers we see more people get this wrong than you can Imagine.
So, what does Type and placement really mean. Well, you need to 1st decide where you would like it to be placed. Is it going to be in a room with overhead lighting, sconces, tall floor lamps or a mixture of the above?
As an example, if you want a true chandelier table lamp then take another lamp you already have and place it around the room, turn it on and sit down. While sitting in your furniture look to see if the lamp height is such that it glares right into your eyes if you look at it. If it does see if you can adjust the lamp height until it no longer is bothersome. Then measure that height and write it down to go shopping with you in stores or online. We have some of the perfect lamp sellers in the ads on this page and it costs you nothing to look. Some of the selection and prices you can get online are out of this world and simply can’t be touched by driving around all over town.
If you place the lamp on all of the tables and appropriate shelves ect… and none of them stop the glare from shining right into your eyes (and the eyes of your guests) then you may wish to think about wall chandelier lamps as a very nice and chic style. I have seen a few of them that I vastly prefer over and above chandelier table lamps style.
If your decision is to go with the wall chandelier version then grab an 8 foot or so ladder out of the garage, bring it into the room, open it and place your test lamp at different heights. Keep making small adjustments in the height until you get it just where your want it so that it’s not glaring into your eyes.
If you are not 100% happy with the way the wall versions are working out then you may wish to go with a full blown over head chandelier. They are by far the most elegant and make the biggest statement, but also cost the most and are the hardest to install. However they will not cause any of your normal lower level chandelier lamp issues as very few people will look straight up at it for any length of time.
